Family Business Basics Workshop

If you think business is business and family is family, you're right. Except when you work in a family business!

This introductory workshop is for founders, owners, next-gen leaders and key employees who want to increase their understanding of the unique dynamics of family-owned businesses – and learn about the tools and techniques available to better manage these dynamics. The workshop is particularly relevant for next-gen leaders who typically must navigate the family business in ways not necessary for founding entrepreneurs.

For those in the construction industry, please note that this is a Gold Seal accredited workshop, worth 1 credit toward your Gold Seal certification.

Succession Planning – The Building Blocks Workshop

The skills needed to transition and exit a business are not the same as the skills needed to build and run a business. A little extra help is a must to enable a successful result for all.

This hands-on workshop is for business owners who are 0-10 years away from selling or transferring their business to the next generation. Learning in a group setting gives owners a cost-effective option for putting a game plan in place. Participants leave with a preliminary succession plan and peace of mind knowing what needs to be done next. Come prepared to work, with your sleeves rolled up!

Presentations

The Importance of Succession Planning

Most succession planning presentations focus on the "technical" areas of the transition i.e. legal structures or tax strategies. Yet there's so much more to it! This one-hour presentation will give you the information and the kick-start you need to begin an integrated, whole-system, transition process within your business.

Laurel,

Thanks for delivering an excellent presentation on small business and family business succession planning at COCA's Chief Operating Officers Forum. Succession planning for small and family businesses is a particularly important topic for the construction industry because our industry is made up of so many of these types of firms. The content of your presentation was entirely relevant and your warm and friendly delivery style held everyone's attention.

Many thanks again,
Ian
